Setting the county…

County Craic — the daily Irish county guessing game

County Craic gives you one county of Ireland to find each day, and six guesses to find it. The clue changes daily: some days it is the county's outline, some days a photograph of a landmark, a pair of real towns, a pin on the map, a written clue, or somebody famous who came from there. Every wrong guess tells you the distance and the direction to the right answer, so the island closes in around you.

Everybody gets the same puzzle on the same day, so you can compare with friends without spoiling it — the share grid gives away your score and nothing else. Beyond the daily there is Quick Five, a full 32-county tour, province campaigns and the complete archive of earlier puzzles. It is all free, works offline, and needs no account.

Questions

How do you play County Craic?

A clue appears — a county outline, a landmark photograph, a trail of two real towns, a pin on the map, a written clue or a famous face. You have six guesses. Every wrong guess tells you how many kilometres away it was and which direction to head in, so each one narrows the island down.

Is there a new puzzle every day?

Yes. One county a day, the same puzzle for everybody, changing at midnight in your own timezone. Solving it keeps your streak going, and you can share a spoiler-free grid of coloured squares.

Which counties are included?

All 32 traditional counties of Ireland, north and south — the nine of Ulster, twelve of Leinster, six of Munster and five of Connacht.

Is County Craic free?

Every mode is free. There is no account, no advertising and no tracking. Your streak and scores are stored in your own browser and never leave your device.

Can I play the older puzzles?

Yes. The Daily Archive holds every earlier daily challenge and you can replay any of them.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Once you have opened the game once, it is cached on your device and plays with no connection at all.

How to play

Find the mystery county in six guesses. Clues rotate between outlines, landmarks, real places, map pins, county facts, and people or screen connections.

  1. Study the clue. Look for a familiar shape, place, position, fact or filming connection.
  2. Pick a county. Search English or Irish county names.
  3. Follow the hint. The distance and arrow point from your guess toward the answer.

Scoring

The earlier you find the county, the more it is worth.
